Also called Peking sauce, this thick brown sauce is both sweet and spicy. It is widely used in Chinese cooking. Hoisin is mainly used as a table condiment but it can also be used to flavour various dishes. Popular Chinese dishes to serve this with include, Peking duck and pork belly bao (Chinese steamed buns).
